Tour Of Asia

The long awaited Tour of Asia has finally passed! I’ve finally gotten some decent sleep–no longer am i just rolling around in bed pondering about the endless responsibilities that i have in regards to my intervention or Tour of Asia.

In reflection, i thought that the event went quite smoothly–sure there were some bumps, and i really wished i had a chance to perform, but it’s okay. I knew if i performed, i wouldn’t know who to entrust the teching stuff to since no one really wanted to help out. =/ In addition, i didn’t know what to sing and i didn’t want to increase my headaches. 🙂

I thought the performances were all pretty good with the exception of a particular person’s singing, but it was better than last year. The skit was funny and well put together, except for some of the missing subtitles and the accident with the korean skit. However, i can’t blame eddy, he’s been working on it for a very long time ON TOP of all of his other obligations, i feel so guilty already about making him go without sleep already.

The food, was horrible. Wismer really ruined asian cuisine this time. Everything was messed up–especially at the price of $2000 for the whole catered event.  Then again, i shouldn’t have expected too much–afterall it IS wismer we’re talking about.

Decoration wise, it wasn’t as great as last year, mainly because of the lack of help we got. Seriously, when i tell people that i’d be there starting at 1:30, i don’t mean that i’d be sitting around waiting for them to show up at 4 pm before i started decorating. Thank god Henry was here to help keep me sane. I feel kinda bad for making him do so much work–he was sweating excessively the whole time–i could’ve probably taken a shower with the amount of sweat he had–but of course, that’s just disgusting. -_-;;

However, i must say, that everyone was a HUGE help AFTER the show ended in helping out with cleaning the area–decorations, chairs, and tables were ALL completely cleaned and taken care of within 1/2 an hour. I was so happy!

Looking back, i am SO glad i won’t have to deal with this madness again next year. However, i DO plan to return to perform if i end up working in Philly after i graduate 😀

This past weekend was quite exciting. Henry got an offer to work for Chartis, and he’s starting tomorrow ^_^. However, he needed to buy new clothing cause his old work attire were all either too big or too small. We ended up going to the outlets today to help him. He budgeted $300 for his new work wardrobe, but ended spending only $210 and bought a WHOLE lot more than he had planned to. He’s decided that Perry Ellis is the cheapest men work attire store ever and that bostonian clark is the better brand for shoes. I’ve decided that Henry is VERY picky when it comes to apparel and shoes–and he’s very lazy. He doesn’t like trying things on, and he won’t even take a second look at something that might be really comfortable and affordable if he thinks that it looks even remotely funny. -_-;;

On the other hand, i went to king of prussia this morning with henry to return some items to AE to avoid shipping costs. I ended up exchanging my merchandise for a blue skirt. I also bought a short sleeve sweater with a cowl neck from BCBG. It was only $9 and i decided i needed to start building more business casual items to add to my closet to prepare for work after graduation. I also wanted to buy this really cute dress shirt that i’ve been eying since the beginning of the semester and i was grinning like crazy when i found it on the $9 rack, but then i found out that it was just misplaced -_-… I also bumped into a student that i TA-ed for and worked with in another class while at BCBG…and it was awkward.

Yesterday was also exciting. Henry and i went to Philly to see a few places that i might end up renting for the summer and to meet up with my parents and my dad’s friend. The first place i arrived at was Academia Suites. It’s supposed to be a place that offers summer housing to students at really good prices, but i was outraged when i got there to see that the door to GET to the leasing office was locked. When i called the office to ask what to do, i was RUDELY dealt with. Basically the lady gave me an attitude and told me that she couldn’t help me at all–not even to provide with an alternative phone number to call to ask to be let in–i had an appointment too! When i used the door-service-dialing system, the same lady answered and HUNG UP on my when she realized that it was me. I don’t care how cheap this place is, i refuse to rent anything from it.

The second place i looked at was from Carlton parks, and it’s really nice. The neighborhood is very pretty and the rent is MAD cheap. $450 a month only. I would have a roommate, but she’d be in a different room and she wouldn’t be here most of the summer. The only obstacle right now is that the girl’s lease ends on 7/31 and i have to stay in Philly till 8/6. 😦 I’m not sure how that’s going to work out yet.

After looking at those two places, my parents took me out for Dim Sum with my dad’s friend and his daughter. Henry later told me that this guy is his idol, haha. Wanna know why? Because he’s everything Henry supposedly wanted to be. My dad’s friend dropped out of college, but is mad successful. When he was still in college, he worked in Wall Street and made $100,000 a year. he couldn’t deal with the fact that his professor didn’t know ANYTHING about Wall Street was teaching him something that contrary to his experiences at Wall Street, so he stopped attending school. On top of that, he was already making more money than his professor. After he stopped working in Wall Street, he became a cop for a few years. Later on, he started his own import/export business. He’s a very rich and successful man now and he’s quite charming. He has a demeanor that demands respect, regardless of how he dresses. Oh yeah, he also has a gun license (from being a cop) and he has a scooter (it’s no motorcycle, but it’s close).

Anyway, the reason my parents met up with this guy was because my parents were interested in buying a loft/condo in Philly. They heard that they’re all at a really good price right now and that now is the time to buy if we were interested. My mom wanted to purchase one because she figured it’d be more convenient for me if i end up working in Philly. On the other hand, if i end up not working in Philly, we could always rent it out and collect rent. The only thing i wasn’t aware of until we started looking was that she expected me to pay it off. T_T She said since i wasn’t going to be renting a place, i can pay off the loft/condo each month as rent. This was also because my dad’s friend told him that the government is offering a $8000 credit to first time buyers, but this offers only lasted till June–which is why my mom wants me to pay for it. My dad’s friend didn’t help when he told me that he bought his first house when he was only 20 (he has about 10+ properties now), and my dad rubbed it in my face that i was now 21. Damn it. hahah -_-;;

I’m not sure how this would turn out since it’s one of those bidding things with the bank since it’s a foreclosure, but we’re currently still going back and forth with the real estate agent.

Unfortunately, since Henry starts work tomorrow, he left me already 😦 Then again, i DO have a lot of hw to do…
